Property Description

The Bearcat Lodge, Circa 1930 steeped in Idyllwild history & timeless mountain charm, this 2 bed + sleeping loft cabin was originally built by C. Selden Belden, owner of the renowned Pinecraft Furniture Company in Idyllwild. Rich with character, craftsmanship, & nearly a century of stories, this enchanting retreat beautifully blends vintage cabin appeal with thoughtful modern upgrades. Lovingly cared for through generations, the cabin remained with one couple from the 1930s through the 1960s, when the now-iconic deck was added around a living tree that still continues to grow today, a rare architectural detail that captures the spirit of mountain living. Over the years, each owner thoughtfully enhanced the property while preserving its original warmth & authenticity. A significant 1988 addition introduced a stunning private primary suite with soaring ceilings & an updated bath, along with a welcoming new front entry & expanded accommodations ideal for hosting family & guests. Warm wood interiors, cozy gathering spaces, & an upgraded fireplace insert. Surrounded by towering pines & natural beauty, this magical cabin offers a rare opportunity to own a true piece of Idyllwild history.
